Jesus Nazarene Walking to Calvary is made up of various figures and it is believed that it was made following the model of a Jesus on the way to Calvary made by Gregorio Fernandez and that is currently in the National Museum of Sculpture. The idea of this pace arises in a assembly hall held on September 20, 1693. Jose de Rozas was commissioned to carve the image of Jesus Nazarene humiliated with the cross on his back. On the other hand, the teacher Antonio Vazquez was in charge of carving a Veronica woman in an attitude of wiping the face of Jesus. Finally, Andres de Pereda and his classmate are instructed to paint the figures.
